Temple Israel celebrates the High Holidays

GREENFIELD -- Temple Israel has planned a full schedule of services, meals, and celebrations for the High Holidays. All are welcome -- please feel free to join for all or part of these community gatherings. No tickets needed, but donations gratefully accepted. For more details, visit

The Jewish New Year runs from the evening of Wednesday, Sept. 20, until the afternoon of Friday, Sept. 22. Temple Israel is hosting a community meal and evening service on Sept. 20 at 6 p.m., and full days of services on Sept. 21 and 22 starting at 9:30 a.m. There will be children's activities on Sept. 21 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. We will convene at the Green River Recreation Area at 5 p.m. on Sept. 21 for a Tashlich/fCasting Off ceremony and picnic.

The Day of Atonement begins in the evening of Friday, Sept. 29 with a Kol Nidre service at 5:45 p.m. A full day of prayer and reflection is planned for Yom Kippur on Sept. 30 beginning at 10 a.m. Children's programming will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Eventide Singers will present at Yizkor Services at 1:30.
