Mending the Web of Life
A workshop of inspirational exploration to move toward action
Sunday October 29, 1-5 PM at Temple Israel, Greenfield
Sarah Pirtle and Emily Koester are facilitators of the Work That Reconnects, which was created by Joanna Macy, and originally called "Despair and Empowerment."
What do you want to do in service to life on earth? How are you called -- and what stops you? When we speak what is true for us in a caring community, our deep listening makes it possible to choose and go forward.
This workshop is helpful for people taking part in many kinds of community building and activist work. As Joanna Macy writes, "We consider anyone acting for a purpose larger than personal gain or advantage to be an activist."
The Work That Reconnects offers a paradigm shift that envisions what could be called a Great Turning. No one part of this effort is enough; we need holding actions for preservation, we need to build alternative sustainable structures, and we need to experience a shift in consciousness. There is a depth to this work. We have experienced that this approach to activism feels replenishing. It gives an opportunity to feel and to face the urgency and the import of this extraordinary moment on Earth.
We encourage participants to register in advance by calling or emailing the Temple Office: 413-773-5884 / office(@)templeisraelgreenfield.org. If you can, please share a few phrases about what you are involved in and why you want to attend. This will help the leaders to plan for the needs of the group. Teens are welcome to register if they are interested.
The workshop leaders are donating their time; contributions are invited as possible to meet the costs of providing this experience. A sliding scale of $10 - $40 is suggested.
Snacks and tea will be provided.
