Truth & Healing for the Next Seven Generations: 400 Years On

400 Years: Truth & Healing for the Next Seven Generations
1620 was the beginning of settlement by English colonists on Native homelands of the Northeast. The next four centuries resulted in land theft of these homelands and systemic assault on the languages, cultures, and identity of Native peoples in our region. To live into this important anniversary, faith communities across the valley are collaborating with local Indigenous leaders in a major project to listen to Native perspectives on what happened, build relationships, and act together for justice.
Program: Save the date for an online program happening 2-4pm on Sunday Oct 18th broadcast here. There will be presentations by key Indigenous leaders, a tobacco offering near the site of the 1676 Great Falls Massacre, music, interfaith prayers, and discussion of ways we can decolonize the attitudes and beliefs that enabled this to happen and still impact our relations with our Indigenous neighbors.
Preparation: 3 online programs will be offered beginning Sunday evening Sept. 27th to help faith communities to learn about and reflect on these issues and prepare for the Oct. 18th program. Watch for details soon.
Repair: We are raising funds for 4 organizations that are helping Native people acquire lands and preserve their languages and culture. Please consider making a donation to this project this year - not as an act of charity but as beginning act of repair and restorative justice for these 400 years of land theft and assault on Native languages and cultures of the Northeast.
