Four days after Yom Kippur comes the most joyous of Jewish holidays, Sukkoth, a festival celebrating the time when ancient Israelites gathered in their fruit harvest and offered thanks to God. In many ways, it is similar to the American Thanksgiving, and some scholars believe that the pilgrims were inspired to hold the first Thanksgiving by the Sukkoth festival about which they read in the Bible. During the nine days of this holiday many Jews eat meals and spend part of their time in a Sukkah, (a little hut with an open roof of branches and leaves). These booths commemorate the temporary shelters in which the ancient Israelites lived on their journey from Egypt to the promised land.

We'll share the special values of hospitality and closeness to the land and the seasons which are central to Sukkot.
