Social Justice Shabbat “Beyond the Pride Flag: Communal LGBTQ Equality and Belonging”
Friday, January 28 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pmFree
The Tikkun Olam Circle is hosting this Social Justice Shabbat with Jackie Maris from Keshet: For LGBTQ Equality in Jewish Life.
This session is designed for folks seeking to create an LGBTQ-affirming environment for their community. We’ll focus on building shared vocabulary and awareness around LGBTQ experiences and identifying ways we can build a community of equality and belonging for LGBTQ people, grounded in Jewish values. We will explore core concepts, define terms, and identify changes that can be made to deepen into LGBTQ belonging in your community.
Keshet “works for the full equality of all LGBTQ Jews and our families in Jewish life. We strengthen Jewish communities. We equip Jewish organizations with the skills and knowledge to build LGBTQ-affirming communities, create spaces in which all queer Jewish youth feel seen and valued, and advance LGBTQ rights nationwide.” More information about Keshet at https://www.keshetonline.org/.
This program is supported in part by a grant from the Bernardston, Greenfield, Shelburne, Gill, Northfield, Montague, and Deerfield cultural councils, local agencies which are supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency.
