Who may participate?
Real Teen Theater of Temple Israel Greenfield welcomes teens between the ages of 13-18 to participate. Jews and allies are welcome.
Because of financial support from the Harold Grinspoon Foundation of western MA, there is no charge to participate.
Students will gain experience with:
*elements of directing theater;
*developing a character;
*working with Zoom webinar;
*giving and receiving supportive feedback.
Plan: Create a 20-30 minute show with devised scenes.
We are delighted to welcome our guest director, Grace Lienhard, making her debut at Temple Israel as a theater instructor. Grace has received extensive training in playwriting, directing, and acting as a Theatre major at Smith College, as well as a student at Shakespeare and Company and The Neighborhood Playhouse. She's been in many shows at Smith college, among them; The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime, as Judy, The Moors, as Agatha, Peter and the Starcatchers, as Prentiss, and The Wolves, as #8. Grace also has extensive experience working with youth.
About Devised Theater
Devised theater; a collaborative process by which the piece is created by the cast members themselves. Instead of having directors, designers, actors, and stage managers, every cast member takes on a little bit of each one of these roles, and pieces are often (though not always) completely written by the cast as they go along. Young people have a lot to say, especially now, and Grace hopes that this collaborative process will unite them and give them a platform to speak uninterrupted.
Grace has designed a curriculum that will move the students together thru the creative stages of developing live, impactful theater.
Classes will be help via Zoom. We hope you'll join us!
