Purim Old World Market and Shpiel

Monday, March 6 @ 4:30 pm 8:00 pm

Celebrate Purim with Temple Israel! Purim, like most Jewish holidays, is a celebration of many things: a tale of our Jewish ancestors; giving gifts to friends and those in need; pre-spring fertility cookies rebranded through the patriarchal ages as antagonist Haman’s hat; and, of course, joy and merriment!

This year we’re hosting an Old World Market coordinated by Ollie Schwartz of Pushcart Judaica. Like in the times of our ancestors before us, we’ll gather and gossip, play and pretend amongst our neighbors and community. There will be arts vendors, tarot reading, music buskers, and food vendors including knishes and hamantaschen (including gluten-free options!). Kids activities will include making hamantaschen and masks for the shpiel. Vegetarian soup and hamantaschen will be available for everyone to enjoy.

Market vendors include

–> Ezra Rose – illustrator, zinester and multi-disciplinary artist. Find them online at www.ezra-rose.com

–> io a-c ceramics- ceramic Judaica

–> Peggy Davis – printer, calligrapher and upcycled pieces artist. Find Peggy online at http://www.ganeydn.com/.
