Community Dialogue on Race Relations

Listen for a Change: Sacred Conversations for Racial Justice The Charlemont Federated Church is the location for a live-streamed conference from Trinity Church in New York City from January 21-23, 2016. It will begin on Thursday, the 21st at 5:00 P.M. with a dinner and local keynoter, the Rev. Dr. Andrea Ayvazian. At 8:00, we will tune in to the conference from Trinity Institute hearing speaker, Michele Norris. Continuing on Friday and Saturday from 9:00 to 5:00, we will hear speakers via webcast (Nicholas Kristof, Anna Deavere Smith, Emilie Townes, Gary Dorrien, Eduardo Bonilla-Silva and others) as well as participate in our own facilitated discussion groups. On Friday night, we will be showing the film, open to all, “I’m Not Racist, Am I?” in which twelve teens explore racism over the course of a year. Cost for the conference: Suggested donation is $25. for all three days, including dinner on Thursday, snacks and all programming. No one will be turned away if space is available.
