Shelburne Mikvah is Back! All are invited to a watery immersion to mark the freshness of Shabbat. Our first Mikvah of the season is happening this Friday, May 31, at 4:45. These Deerfield River Immersions (co-ed- with swimwear), are brief and refreshing; our ceremony is simple . The River shares her power with all who dare.
Please RSVP to [email protected] if you can make it. If you can't, remember the words of the Seer of Lublin and feel free to immerse yourself in the 'Rivers of Fire', the holy rivers of prayer and intention. Once, the Holy Seer had no Mikvah or River to immerse within. And yet, his beard was dripping wet when his students came. Why? "I did my immersions in the River of Fire; one for getting rid of the schmutz of the week, another for claiming the holy garment that is Shabbat".
FYI- our custom is to immerse three times: 1. to rid ourselves of the schmutz from the week, 2. to bring in Shabbat blessing and 3. To bring in a blessing for our soul filled world.
