Center for Jewish Life in Franklin County
In collaboration with CBI/Abundance Farm, we will gather to grieve the unfolding events in Israel/Palestine through thee framework of simple chants, meditative silence and poetry. However this grief-work looks for you, however you fall politically, please know you are welcome.
We will meet in the Water Building Garage next to Abundance Farm in Northampton (address below).
Avodas Lev (translates to Heart Work) is a contemplative chant-based practice originating at Adamah Farm and Teva Learning Center based out of Isabella Freedman Jewish Retreat Center. The service is based on one of the three Jewish services to honor the passing of the day. This service will follow the core structure of the maariv/evening service and will include Hebrew and English chanting, movement if desired, guided meditation and meditative silence. The practice is meant to guide us in greeting the evening, acknowledge our own holiness and our connection to the Creation and allow us to express gratitude. No prior prayer knowledge or practice is required; all are welcome.
