Tu B'Shvat Seder

Tu b'Shvat, the 15th day of the month of Shvat, is the date each year from which the age of a tree would be counted, and is called the New Year of the Trees. In Israel, it is the time that the sap starts running and the almond trees blossom.
It has been a meaningful Jewish holiday to kabbalists for at least 500 years, Jewish mystics who initiated the custom of having a seder meal with fruit for the holiday.

Doing Jewish: the Shabbat liturgy

This interactive class led by Justin Sundell-Thomas will explore the basics of tefilah, or Jewish prayer, with the goal of providing tools for developing deeper personal and communal prayer practice. Using the siddur as a jumping off point, we will familiarize ourselves with traditional and contemporary elements of daily Jewish prayer, consider ways to create a personally meaningful daily practice, discuss barriers we may face integrating regular tefilah into our lives, and strategize to overcome those barriers.
